Wayzata Opens the Business Door for Breweries
As the craft beer and microbrewery craze continues to spread throughout the state and the nation, Wayzata has opened the doors for all sorts of micro-production facilities to set up shop in town.
According to Sun Sailor, despite some concerns a majority Wayzata City Council approved amendments to the city’s zoning and liquor ordinances that would allow for breweries, brewpubs, wineries and distilleries. The decision was made in early September.
The discussion and ultimate changes were prompted by Robert Klick and Bill Cavanagh of Wayzata Brew Works. The two brought the idea of a microbrewery and distillery to the council in March after already leasing a space in the Boatworks building, the article said.
Klick and Cavanagh plan to get started on the brewing process in the next 4-6 weeks, the article said.
