Klapprich named Wayzata’s Person of the Year
Paul Klapprich was named Greater Wayzata Area Chamber’s 2013 Person of the Year. Having been living in Wayzata his whole life, Klapprich has played a major role in the community from the beginning.
He was with the local fire department for 49 years and was quickly promoted to fire chief, for 20 of those years. Klapprich retired this past May, after many decades of hard work and efforts for the community. Not only was he part of the fire department, but he served as president of the Hennepin County Fire Chief’s Association, was on the boards of the Lake Region Mutual Aid Association, the Southwest Fire League, the Minnesota Fire Chief’s Association, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Despite his busy involvement in the community and surrounding areas, Klapprich even made time to be his neighborhood block captain. As block captain, Klapprich maintained crime prevention in his community. So, it’s no surprise that he was nominated by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce. He has helped in all areas of the city to make sure it stayed a safe place for everyone.
The Chamber celebrated the award ceremony at a luncheon featuring Klapprich and his family.
