Community Spotlight: Wayzata Women’s Chorus
For nearly 30 years, the Wayzata Women’s Chorus has been singing to support the community.
The group sings at a variety of different events, but also spends time bringing music to local retirement homes, veterans events and correctional facilities. According to the chorus’ website, the members believe in social responsibility and the ability to spread joy through song.
The award-winning group is directed by Carole Birch and accompanied by Mary Fadden, and performs two formal concerts each year in addition to its other community performances.
In addition, the group makes every formal concert a benefit concert, raising money to donate to homeless shelters, food shelters, homes for adults with disabilities and even a sick relative of a chorus member, according to a piece in the Star Tribune a couple years ago.
Right now, the group is looking for new members. If you’re interested in becoming a part of the group, go to wayzatawomenschorus.org.
