Washington Township’s Latin Instructor Named Indiana’s Teacher of the Year

For Steve Perkins, becoming the 2014 Teacher of the Year was a shock! Announced at 7:30 a.m., as everyone was still waking up, he heard the news and was surprised. Of course, the rest of the school wasn’t. Perkins is known for his determination and kindness that he demonstrates each day to everyone.

Not only was he accredited for the Washington Township School District, but for the entire state of Indiana! Perkins has been teaching Latin for a number of years, and loves his career as an educator. Obviously, with his nomination came a lot of media attention. Indiana State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Glenda Ritz made sure that everyone knew Perkins was not only a great teacher, but co-worker and friend as well.
