Annual Broad Ripple Art Fair Celebrates Local Art
Coming up quickly is the annual Broad Ripple Art Fair this weekend. May 17 – 18th will be filled with family fun activities, making it the event of the year for Washington Township. Welcoming all sorts of cultural aspects of the community and celebrating local artists, this art fair is a spring extravaganza to remember.
This juried event features over 200 artists with beautifully hand-made items such as jewelry, blown glass, paintings, photography and sculptures. Participants from surrounding cities make their way to the Broad Ripple to gain recognition, while earning money doing things that they love.
The fair is hosted at the Indianapolis Art Center, a nonprofit community arts organization, as a fundraiser to continue spreading arts and culture throughout the community. Residents flock to view the works of artists and craftspeople, as well as take their children to the Kid’s World section of the fair. Children can enjoy exciting, art related activities that will get their creative juices flowing.
Local musicians are performing both days on the four different stages. Genres from pop to reggae provide the background with lovely music brought to the fair for everyone to enjoy. Also, there are two food courts that feature a variety of food and drinks, including beer and wine.
In addition, there are demonstrations held inside the galleries at the art center. Guests are invited to take a walk through the unique sculpture garden that is home to some very interesting pieces. Make plans for this weekend to go to the Broad Ripple Art Fair in Washington Township. Located next to the White River at 67th and College Avenue, the Center is within walking distance of the Monon Trail.
