Waconia Woman to Compete for Team USA at World Karate Championships

A Waconia native will be competing for Team USA at the World Karate Championships in Dublin, Ireland, starting Oct. 30.

According to The Winonan, Jenna Grochow, who is also a sophomore at Winona State University, first began karate in 2005 at Dojo Karate at Waconia. She qualified for Worlds earlier this year by taking home a gold and silver place at nationals in Detroit area in June, the article said.

Grochow will compete in two events—traditional forms and traditional weapons—giving her two chances to make it to the finals, the story said.
