Waconia Student Recognized for Saving Choking Classmate
Waconia High School student Cody Ehrriech was recently honored for saving the life of a fellow classmate.
According to WCCO, Ehrriech, who has autism, gave the Heimlich maneuver to a student who he saw choking during lunch. The event occurred in October and was even captured by school surveillance cameras. Ehrriech was recognized with a special certificate from state Rep. Jim Nash, who’s also the former of mayor of Waconia.
“[It was] instinct,” Ehrriech, who never recalls learning the maneuver, reportedly said.
