Waconia Residents Come Together to Help Family in Need
Known for their community involvement and serving others, the town of Waconia has made this family feel wonderful during these winter months! You might not think homelessness may be an issue in this part of Minnesota, but it is still there even if you don’t see it. One local family has been blessed by the residents of this city, and couldn’t be more grateful!
Rick and Robyn Stangeland and their two children, Matthew and Ashleigh, have been moving around to different shelters since September. After Waconia residents heard about this local family in need, they were generously given food, clothing and hotel stays. Rick suffers from ascending aortic aneurysms, leaving him in a wheelchair. Before locals learned of the family, they had a very hard time finding shelter.
The Stangelands have nothing but appreciation for all the kindness they have received in Waconia. They explained that they haven’t experienced such generosity from other communities that they have lived in before. The children still attend school in town and are able to live a happy life. While the parents both have physical problems to overcome, they get through each day thanks to the good people of Waconia!
