Waconia High School Weight and Conditioning Room Draws Rave Reviews
The newly renovated Waconia High School strength and conditioning facility is drawing positive reviews, especially from student-athletes who are looking to compete in college.
According to the Star Tribune, Waconia’s facility features a swath of artificial turf where student-athletes hone their movements, and on each side are squat/bench press racks as well stations to accommodate Olympic lifts such as the power clean.
Waconia also installed Perform-X Training Systems to its racks and stations, which is something NFL facilities have, and allow student-athletes to maintain resistance throughout the full motion of an exercise, the report said.
The weight room upgrades, totaling about $250,000 for turf installation and new equipment, were part of a $75 million bond request approved by school district voters in 2014, the report said.
