Waconia Football Team Upsets Number One Team, Heads to Section Title Game

The Waconia High School football team has a chance to go to state.

According to the Sun Patriot, the Waconia Wildcats beat the Chaska Hawks, the number one rated team in class 5A, in the section semifinals on Oct. 28, by a score of 20-10.

“[We played] unreal,” linebacker Cade Mueller told the newspaper. “Not just a single player, every single person did their job. When everybody does their job, it makes it easy for everyone else.”

By winning, Waconia avenged a regular season loss to Chaska, and now the Wildcats head to the 2AAAAA section final Nov. 3, and will play Mankato West in Mankato for a chance to go to state, the report said.
