Waconia Education Association Names Teachers of the Year

Two Waconia teachers have been named 2015 Waconia Education Association (WEA) Teachers of the Year.

According to the Sun Patriot, second-grade teacher Sara Guethling and seventh-grade math teacher Rob Heinley were this year’s honorees.

Guethling works at Southview Elementary School and grew up just north of Gibbon, MN. She did her undergrad studies at Concordia College in Nebraska and has a masters from Carthage College in Wisconsin, the newspaper reported.

Heinley, who teaches at Clearwater Middle School, has been with the district for eight years, but his teaching career spans 37 years.

“Both Rob and Sara are outstanding professionals,” Paul Henn, WEA President, told the Patriot. “Their commitment to kids is truly amazing, their passion for teaching and seeing their students be successful is a wonderful example for professionals in Waconia. They are very deserving of this honor.”
