Revised Proposal Unveiled for Waconia’s Coney Island, Regional Park
After months of gathering public input, Carver County Parks recently revealed a refined plan for Lake Waconia Regional Park and historic Coney Island.
According to the Sun Patriot, Candace Amberg, a consultant and architect with WSB & Associates, the plan brings the park’s amenities into the 21st century while also giving a nod to the history of the property.
“We wanted to kind of make it an adventure,” Amberg reportedly said of the plan. “We want you to go out there and try to find these elements.”
For Coney Island, trails and historic overlook points are being proposed, while the main park will be getting a pretty significant facelift.
“Everything from redesigning the playground area to adding a small lawn game area to enhancing the trail system is part of the plan – all with an emphasis on not only allowing the public to enjoy the natural space, but to also learn about the habitat,” the newspaper wrote.
