Officials ‘Break Ground’ on New Assisted Living, Memory Care Facility
A historic Waconia building will be revamped and expanded to make way for an assisted living and memory care facility.
According to the Sun Patriot, city officials and officials with Nagel Assisted Living held a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site of the former Nagel Hospital structure at the beginning of September. The building has been vacant for a number of years, but it’s getting a new life.
“It is truly a historic day today, as we break ground at a site that experienced its first groundbreaking over 70 years ago, when Dr. Harold D. Nagel turned the first shovel of dirt, taking the first steps toward his dream of the establishment of Nagel Hospital,” said Jeff Johnson, a senior marketing associate with Sunflower Communities, the parent company of Nagel Assisted Living, reportedly said during the ceremony.
Located on Elm Street, the facility will offer more than memory care and assisted living, the article said. Other resident services will likely include physical therapy, home health care services, occupational therapy and more.
