Longtime Waconia ECFE Educator Retires

A longtime educator with Waconia’s Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) program has retired.

According to the Sun Patriot, after 30 years with the program, educator Marilyn Laulainen said goodbye to families on May 11.

“I’ve been privileged and humbled to work with so many families and help give children their start in the schools,” she told the newspaper. “I have seen children become very active through the school system, certainly a lot of the children are even adults now and some returning with their families to ECFE.”

In retirement, Laulainen reportedly said she plans to travel and spend time with her grandsons, but also hopes to continue working in some form of education.
