Local School Starts New Academic Program – C-STEM
St. Joseph Catholic School, in Waconia, already has an outstanding reputation when it comes to education. Their strong academic program is about to get even more effective with the school’s new, innovative program called C-STEM (Catholic – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
This STEM model is going to implement more hands-on learning. It is supposed to encourage higher level thinking so kids will no longer be asked to recall information as much! As described by the Minnesota Department of Education, “STEM education provides intentionally designed and linked learning experiences for students to develop and apply understandings of concepts and processes.”
Although this is going to be a challenging task for teachers to train on how to teach these new lessons, it will benefit the kids for higher educational institutions in the future. They are hoping other surrounding Waconia public schools are going to start using this technique to better their already excellent education system!
