DNR Declares Ice Out on Lake Waconia
The summer season of boating, fishing, swimming and recreating on Lake Waconia is now coming into view—especially with this year’s early ice out.
According to the Sun Patriot, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources declared ice out Wednesday, March 16. While this wasn’t a record, it was certainly earlier than expected. Generally speaking, this year’s ice out is about a month early. The median ice out date for the lake is April 10, the newspaper said.
The earliest recorded ice out was March 14, 2000 and the latest ice out as May 1, 1965, the newspaper said.
Despite this spring’s up and down temperatures, with ice out, it won’t be long until we’re enjoying summer days on the lake.
