City Square Park Proudly Holds New Patriotic Flags

Thanks to the Waconia Lions Club and the VFW, the City Square Park now boasts beautiful, new flags. Blowing in the wind on that cold afternoon, the dedication was on Veterans Day. The crowd watched intently as the ceremony unveiled the new addition to the city.

Working vigorously for this flag project to be finished, the Lions Club raised the $8,000 needed to ensure the event was a success. The five flag poles show the five military branches, to signify the contributions they have made to our country. The Waconia VFW purchased the actual flags and will maintain the sight from here on out.

Local Waconia officials such as: Lions Club President Darren Rothstein, Mayor Jim Nash, and other members of the communities gave short speeches to the great Veterans Day gathering. A veteran from each branch also contributed to the event that day.
