Ragnar: an overnight, 12 person, 200 mile relay race

Anthem residents have probably noticed some random signs along local sidewalks and trails that read “Ragnar.” What is Ragnar? It is an overnight, 12 person, 200 mile relay race.

According to Anthem News, there are 16 Ragnar races nationwide; Arizona hosts “The Ragnar Del Sol” which takes runner from Wickenbury to Tempe and Anthem. Each team member runs three intervals, each ranging from three to eight miles.

While the runner is on their turn other teammates hop into a van and follow the person until it is the next relay member’s turn. This continues until they reach their destination – the finish line. Last February, the Ragnar Del Sol went through Anthem where they had a chance to rest and shower at the popular community center.

Now, when you pass a Ragnar sign while walking along the Phoenix Northeast streets there should be no questions. For more information on the next Ragnar Relay Race go to www.ragnarrelay.com.
