The last weekend of summer ends with a Smokin’ Brew BBQ from Aug. 29 through the 31 in downtown Parker, Colorado. Douglas County BBQ lovers and pit masters are preparing for this tasty event held each year.
More than 50 competitors will battle it out for trophies and more importantly, bragging rights during the Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event, which is now in its sixth year. The competitive categories include: ribs, chicken, pork and brisket, according to a Parker Chronicle article.
One local barbecue lover, Jim Chincholl is an official judge for the Smokin’ Brew. He lives in Parker and looks forward to this end of summer BBQ, after going to about 30 throughout the year.
“I really enjoy judging and do a steady 30 events per year,” Chincholl said in the article.
Other activities during the three-day event include: the Kids Q Championship, a Saturday night event that gets kids involved in the barbecuing action; Cow Pie Bingo, as well as live music Saturday and Sunday with an awards ceremony at 5 p.m. Aug.31.
