The Parker Rotary Club recently honored founders of Praying Hands Ranch Carl and Shirley Hanson for their community contributions.
According to the Parker Chronicle, the couple received the Impact Award, which is an honor that goes to those who exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
Each year, the couple welcome dozens of children and adults with a variety of mental and physical disabilities to ride horses as a form of therapy.
“With children and adults, we’re seeing wonderful things happen out there with our therapists,” Shirley Hanson said in the article. “It’s a marvelous therapy. It makes the little ones feel big and important and the older ones, it gives them more joy.”
