Parker Adventist Hospital nurse Pat Walsh is getting ready to retire after a whopping 50 years in the profession.
According to the Parker Chronicle, the huge milestone of 50 years nearly went unnoticed. It wasn’t until Walsh was going through some paperwork that she found her nursing school diploma from 1965.
“Walsh originally planned on becoming a secretary, but began looking into nursing programs in her home state of New Jersey just after turning 17, and received a special exemption from the age-21 minimum to enroll in a three-year nursing program,: the newspaper wrote.
Walsh was originally supposed to retire at the end of May, but ended up extending her date to sometime in August because she wasn’t ready to leave yet.
