Mark Hall, of Parker, was selected at random to participate in the Olympic torch relay! Finding himself incredibly lucky, him and his wife traveled to Russia to partake in the international event. Running down the streets of St. Petersburg, Hall was covered in camera lights and applause.
The 200 yards he ran was the most memorable and seemed to only last for a few seconds. According to OurParkerNews.com, Hall explained the dramatic moment, “When I got to the middle of the road with (runner No.) 142 approaching, I knew that in a few seconds, I would be the only person on the face of the Earth holding the Olympic flame that was lit,” he said. “To me, that was an awesome moment.”
Luckily, his name was drawn out of the company lottery. Hall works for Visa, which is a big sponsor of the Olympics. Every time the Games happen, three employees are selected to attend the torch relay!
