Local Parker Academy Wins National Award for Community Service

The National School of Character awarded Parker‘s North Star Academy for their well known character education program. They focus on the students’ personal development and their contributions to the community.

Given by the Character Education Partnership, the society believes in recognizing schools that believe in combining great education, and positive community changes. The Academy was chosen because they have truly shown interest in being a leader to others. Being the only charter school to accomplish the award this year, North Star is also the only one in Colorado.

Credit is, not only, given to the refined students of North Star, but to the Parker parents and educators that contributed to their growth. Some of the volunteer work done to earn the award was with the Ronald McDonald House, Irving Street Women’s Residence, and Project Angelheart, just to name a few.
