Phoenix Country Day Middle School Debate Coach Wins National Award
The debate coach at Paradise Valley-based Phoenix Country Day Middle School has earned some national recognition.
According to The Town of Paradise Valley Independent, C. Ryan Joyce, the school’s director of advancement, and speech and debate coach, was recently named 2017 Middle School Coach of the Year by the National Speech and Debate Association.
Joyce, who took over the team three years ago, has turned a team with little to no experience into one of the best teams in the nation with multiple students winning national championships in speech and debate, the article said.
The award is selected through a committee comprised of members of the National Speech and Debate Association Board of Directors and the Executive Director who review nominations submitted by member schools, the article said.
