Local 911 Dispatcher Named Finalist for National Award
A 911 dispatcher with the Paradise Valley Police Department was recently named a finalist for the Smart Telecommunicator Award for her life saving efforts.
According to the Paradise Valley Independent, Samantha Denning was nominated for the award for her recent heroic efforts to help a suicidal caller.
“When things look bleak and officers were not on the scene yet, she asked the caller who would care for her dogs if she killed herself,” the newspaper said. “This caused the woman to pause and she got her to wait for officers to arrive and help.”
Denning has been a dispatcher with the PVPD for almost a year. Smart911 will announce the winner sometime this week.
