3 Paradise Valley Residents Heading to Australia for Ironman 70.3 Competition
Three Paradise Valley residents are preparing to head to Australia to compete in an Ironman competition.
According to the Town of Paradise Valley Independent, Mary Jorden, Dr. Dwight Lundell and Dr. Sharon Johnston are all making the journey to compete for the title of Ironman 70.3 world champion.
The Ironman 70.3 is a half-Ironman of sorts, according to the report, and consists of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run. Jorden, Lundell and Johnston each had to qualify to compete in the event.
More than 3,000 athletes from around the world will compete at the Ironman 70.3 world championships, according to the report. Over 70 countries will be represented, and athletes range in age from 18 to 75-plus.
