Minnetonka High’s VANTAGE Program Adding 6 New Courses
These days, high school students have a lot of different learning opportunities—from AP courses to earning college credits early through post-secondary classes. And for the last two school years, Minnetonka High School students have been able to get a taste of the business world through the VANTAGE Program.
According to the Sun Sailor, the program debuted in the 2013-2014 school year with just one class and this year it grew to three. Next year, the program will add six courses, for a total of nine.
“As part of the program, VANTAGE students work with companies such as Emerson, General Mills and even Target to help the companies analyze data, brainstorm problem solving techniques and even create new products or services the companies can use,” the newspaper reported.
Since students spend about 2-3 hours each school day “in the field” they are getting real world experience, while having the support of the school.
The new courses set for next school year include Advanced Topics in Food Science and Research Applications and Graphic and Product Design, the Sun Sailor said.
