Meet the Newest, Furriest Minnetonka Police Officers

Two new police K9s recently joined the Minnetonka Police Department, and on Saturday, July 26, 2014 you can help get these new officers protective vests through a Police K9 Invest Project event.

An event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ridgedale Center, 12401 Wayzata Blvd. in Minnetonka, to raise money to buy the protective vests for the canine officers.

Event attendees can see the K9s and meet their handlers on stage throughout the day, view a demo by the Metro Transit Police K9s, enjoy a children’s coloring and crafts table and participate in special prize drawings.

According to the City of Minnetonka, the Police K9 INvest Project is a Minnesota non-profit that raises funds for Minnesota Law Enforcement Canine Units for purchase of protective vests and vest equipment for the dogs. The project also provides strategic mentoring and resources to community and individuals wishing to raise funds for their local law enforcement canine units.
