Meet Minnetonka’s New Police Chief June 2

The public is invited to meet new Minnetonka Police Chief Jeff Sebenaler at an open house from 5-6 p.m. June 2 in the Shady Oak Room at the Minnetonka Community Center.

Sebenaler will be sworn into the position during the Minnetonka City Council meeting, which will follow the open house at 6:30 p.m., according to the city’s website.

Sebenaler has been with the Minnetonka Police Department for nearly 25 years, according to a city press release.

Capt. Sebenaler, 51, has been with the Minnetonka Police Department since 1990, serving first as an officer, then as a sergeant before becoming captain. He began his law enforcement career in 1984 in Thief River Falls, Minn.

Capt. Sebenaler earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Bemidji State University and attended the Law Enforcement Skills Program at Alexandria Technical College. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., an invitation-only professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders.

Sebenaler will officially take over as chief June 1, following the May 31 retirement of Chief Mark Raquet.
