List: Minnetonka Ranks at No. 3 for Family-Friendly Cities in MN
Minnetonka has gotten some more recognition for its family-friendly atmosphere from Apartment List. After ranking No. 26 on the online rental marketplace’s list for the top 100 family friendly cities in the nation, the city has no been ranked at No. 3 in the state for the same category.
The rankings for both lists were based on safety, housing cost (based on the rental rate of a two-bedroom apartment), school quality and child friendliness. The apartment company used FBI crime statistics as well as Department of Education data to complete its list.
Here’s what Apartment List had to say about Minnetonka:
“Ranking not far behind Eden Prairie at No. 26 on our national list is another Minneapolis suburb, Minnetonka. High school graduation rates here jump to 97.2%, putting this city of 51,368 near the top of the list for school quality. Rents are also a bit more affordable, averaging $1210 per month for a 2 bedroom. Average incomes are a bit lower than in Eden Prairie, however, and there’s a lower percentage of children in this city on the edge of Lake Minnetonka.”
Lakeville came in at No. 1 on the list, followed by Eden Prairie at No. 2, and then Rochester and Maple Grove coming in the fourth and fifth, respectively.
