Now that the snow is melting and it’s getting warmer out, that time of the year is coming- Spring Cleaning!

Every year Hennepin County organizes a collection events to give residents more convenient, local disposal options for their household hazardous wastes.

This event will be held Thursday through Saturday, and sites are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day of the collection.

Materials accepted
Materials are accepted from households only. Businesses must manage their waste properly; see the A to Z How-to-Get-Rid-of-It Guide for more information.

Household, Lawn and Garden Products Mercury-Containing Items
Adhesives (flammable or petroleum based) Fluorescent bulbs and HID lamps (limit 25)
Aerosols (pressurized or containing product) Thermometers
Batteries Thermostats
Drain cleaner Electronics (limit five of each type)
Driveway sealer Computers
Fire extinguishers DVD players and VCRs
Flammable products Radios
Paint (limit three 5-gallon pails) TVs, etc.
Paint thinners, solvents and strippers
PCB ballasts (must be removed from fixtures) Auto and Fuel Wastes
Pesticides, insecticides and herbicides Diesel fuel
Photographic and hobby chemicals Fuel additives
Pool chemicals Gasoline (containers will not be returned)
Rechargeable tools Kerosene
Wood preservatives Starter fluid
Gas cylinders – propane less than 40 lbs.; specialty gases less than 59 lbs. will be evaluated; some may not be accepted due to management restrictions Vehicle lead-acid batteries
** No Motor Oil
