The Littleton Museum’s newest exhibit displays the fine work of local photographers that have proven to be the ‘Best of Show’. Available through May 25th, residents and area art lovers have plenty of time to catch a peek at the winners from the 2013 Eye of the Camera. Located at 6028 S. Gallup Street, the Littleton’s Fine Arts Board is proud to showcase the artists’ work for everyone to appreciate.
According to the Littleton Independent, three Best of Show ribbons are awarded at the annual Eye of the Camera exhibit, held each February. The show at the Littleton Museum is packed with intriguing and widely varied images, displayed in a mix from the three winners: Charles Lehman, Mike Berenson and Rob Lace.
Noted for his work with color digital, Berenson was selected for his keen eye for the stunning night images. “Lenticular Mountain Milky Way” won Best of Show last year at the Lone Tree Photography Show. Being able to capture photos in the Colorado sky is Berenson’s specialty, specifically during late evening shots that many photographers disregard.
As for the other two winners, they have expressed themselves very differently from one another. Rob Lace won his award for black and white digital prints. An images of an elderly dog seated in a old Chevy Truck was titled, “Ready to Go”. The picture depicts man’s best friend hanging out the truck window eagerly awaiting his trip. Lastly, Charles Lehman won in the category of Darkroom Processing. Developing his own film at home, the photo was also black and white, but required a lot more attention. One of his photos called “Cliff Dwelling” shows a deserted home where someone once lived, it’s almost haunting.
There are many pictures to look at once you get to the museum – well worth the trip. The hours are as follows: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. For more information please call 303-795-3950.
