Lakeville North Golfing Twins Are Two of the Best
After six seasons on the Lakeville North High School varsity golf team, twin brothers Freddy and Bobby Thomas are usually only separated by a tenth of a stroke in their average scores at the end of the season.
According to the Pioneer Press, the slim difference between two of the state’s top prep golfers has fueled quite the rivalry between the brothers.
“I know that if I can beat him, that usually means I’ll win a tournament,” Freddy, the top-ranked golfer in the Class 3A, told the newspaper.
The boys are coached by their father, Scott Thomas, who is a former teaching pro at Wayzata Country Club and Prestwick who regained his amateur status in 2005, according to the Pioneer Press.
“It’s a tough job sometimes, but Freddy has earned the No. 1 spot,” Scott Thomas told the Pioneer Press. “Bobby is right there, too. It’s really like No. 1 and No. 1A. That’s how close they are.”
The high school seniors plan to play at DePaul University next year.
