Lakeville South Headed to Semifinals of State Hockey Tournament
The Lakeville South boys hockey team upset the second seeded team in the first round of the state tournament.
According to Minnesota Boys Hockey Hub, the Cougars beat St. Thomas Academy 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the Class AA state tournament March 9. St. Thomas Academy was the second seeded team in the tournament, the report said.
South originally beat the Lakeville North Panthers 3-1 in the Section 1 final on March 2 for the opportunity to play in the state tournament, according to Sun Thisweek Newspapers.
This year’s trip to state is the first for the Lakeville South team since 2012, and the third time in school history, the report said.
