South Indianapolis Knows How to Celebrate America’s Birthday
It’s America’s birthday and there are plenty of events to attend this Fourth of July weekend in the south Indianapolis community. Put on the red, white and blue and get ready to celebrate family fun days of live entertainment, food and, of course, fireworks. From horse racing to The Wright Brothers band, the only problem residents will have is choosing the best place to spend the holiday.
Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, located at 4500 Dan Patch Circle, will host live racing, outdoor activities, and a free concert by The Willis Clan from America’s Got Talent. Following the band is the annual fireworks show. Festivities are set to begin at 5 p.m. with an after party in the casino at 10 p.m. Visit www.hoosierpark.com for more information on the event.
On Saturday, The Wright Brothers band put on a performance at Mallow Run Winery, 6964 W. Whiteland Road. Tickets are $20; $15 in advance at www.mallowrun.com or by calling 317-422-1556. Proceeds from the concert go to benefit Champ Camp, as well as the fireworks finale at 7 p.m.
Festivities are all week long at the Lions Club 4th of July Extravaganza at Arbuckle Acres Park, located at 200 N. Green St. There are awesome fireworks at 10 p.m. on July 4th. Other activities include: bingo, carnival games and rides with a parade at 10 a.m., Independence Day. Get more information at www.brownsburglionsclub.org.
Take part in one of these local Fourth of July events, or select from over 40 others going on this weekend in the Indianapolis area. Happy Birthday America!
