New Things to Come for the Village in 2015 Including a Huge Cinema and Mall
A major redevelopment project in Greenwood Village is going to make the old mall into a brand new 660,000-square-foot retail space! The old Mervyn’s department store at Monroe and Stanford is now gone, after they started demolition a few days ago. In addition, the new space will include a 10-screen cinema and 400 to 800 apartments.
Expected to be complete by Christmas time of 2015, the whole community is awaiting their new, fun place to spend their weekends! The project is going to restore a long-term decrease in the mall’s sales tax revenue. Shopping has definitely decreased in the city since the previous retail stores were declining in a modern and trendy atmosphere.
After 10 long years of planning, Greenwood Village is ready to start fresh. Things are going to start looking a lot different in the next 18 months. Only a portion of the mall has been closed, leaving the Foothills Mall open for other outdoor activities and community events.
