‘The Day of Caring’ Starts the United Way Fundraiser Event

Residents of Johnson County recognized Thursday, Oct. 21 as “The Day of Caring”. According to the Daily Journal, more than 350 people fanned out across the county yesterday to help agencies that the United Way serves. Greenwood locals were a majority of the participants.

Volunteers logged hours of hard work spreading mulch, hosting yard sales and gathering donations from companies around the community. The Day of Caring each year starts the annual fundraising campaign for the United Way of Johnson County.

Also, according to the recent article, the on-going volunteer event allows employees who donate to the agency to see where their money goes. Some of the volunteers choose to give back by helping their local United Way agency or program.

For more information on how to donate or volunteer, visit the United Way website at: www.uwci.org.
