Summer’s Just Begun, and Already Greenwood’s Pool is Getting a lot of Use
Summer has just begun, and local pools are already seeing an uptick in crowds this year.
According to the Daily Journal, about 15,000 people have already visited the Freedom Springs Aquatic Park in Greenwood through mid-June. And that’s an upward trend, Rob Taggart, Greenwood Parks and Recreation director told the Daily Journal.
The increase in attendance is a function of weather, according to the story. Last year was a cool spring, whereas this year has been exceptionally warm, driving up numbers, Taggart said.
In addition, Taggart said the city of Greenwood has been marketing the pool more to the community, according to the story. They city’s also made changes to its payment system, which will result in fewer long lines.
So the city put in different payment methods to get people in faster, such as having employees get credit card payments from people waiting in line and having a prepaid punch card, Taggart said. “We have our feet underneath us better this year,” Taggart told the Daily Journal.
