Residents Work Together to Build Homes and a Better Community for Single Mothers
Greenwood residents are working together to make sure struggling single mothers are given the opportunities that everyone else can have in their community. A local nonprofit organization, Haven Sanctuary for Women, is opening a home for women and their children to live for up to two years.
Being a very cohesive city, Greenwood locals are always forming ideas and groups on how to better their fellow citizens. Providing these stable living quarters will allow the single mothers to find a job and get back on their feet! The program offers the moms two years to build up their skills on being a good parent while earning a living.
The objective of these family living quarters is to give residents hope on becoming a part of the Greenwood‘s community. They are given these homes that provide the kids with room for growth and learning. Founder of Haven Women’s Sanctuary, Carol Naragon, came up with the idea about 20 years ago when she volunteered for a similar nonprofit. The homes should be ready by the end of the month.
