Local Charity Helps County Families in Need During Holidays

A county-based charity is helping local families in need during the holidays.

According to the Daily Journal, volunteers from the Good Cheer Fund of Johnson County have been spread around the county, including Greenwood, delivering the gift of a good Christmas meal and canned goods to families in need.

Volunteers at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church packed more than 250 boxes filled with about $55 of purchased perishable food, along with canned goods donated from local schools, the report said. From there, the Good Cheer Fund volunteers loaded them in their cars, vans and trucks to make deliveries.

Elizabeth and Jimmy Coleman of Greenwood told the newspaper their family was thankful for the donated food.
