Jennifer Hollingshead Receives Volunteer of the Year Award

Jennifer Hollingshead was recently given the Volunteer of the Year Award by Indiana Main Street community program, which is a division of the Indian Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
According to the Southside Times, Hollingshead was given the award for her efforts to save Greenwood’s historic commercial district. When Hollingshead heard that one-third of Greenwood’s historic commercial district could be lost to widen a road and sidewalks, she wanted to do something. She formed Restore Old Town Greenwood, got people involved and applied for grants. Now, demolition is no longer a threat, the newspaper said.
Hollingshead is a 1995 graduate of Greenwood Community High School, and her parents owned a grocery store in Old Town Greenwood.
