Greenwood Teen Wins U.S. Girls’ Junior Golf Championship

A Greenwood teenager has won the 2017 U.S. Girls’ Junior Golf Championship.

According to Golf.com, Erica Shepherd, a 16-year-old from Greenwood, won the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship on July 29.

Shepherd became the second left-handed female champion in USGA history, joining Julia Potter, a fellow Indiana player who won the 2013 and 2016 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur titles, the report said.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve always told everyone when making my goals, this is the goal that I have to accomplish,” Shepherd told Golf.com.
