Greenwood Gets $400K Grant for Downtown Improvements

After years of talking and planning, major improvements are finally coming to downtown Greenwood.

According to the Daily Journal, the city was recently awarded a $400,000 grant from the Office of Community and Rural affairs that will complete the funding needed for the facade restoration of 22 of 33 buildings. The project is part of the Main Street revitalization plan.

The project will cost $1.1 million in total, and the city and property owners are kicking in the rest, the newspaper said.
