Greenwood Begins Downtown Renovations

The City of Greenwood has begun its $1.5 million project to restore and renovate the facades of 24 buildings in the historic downtown.

According to Inside Indiana Business, the project aims to preserve the historic area and promote growth.

“Large-scale growth and economic development cannot take place without addressing Greenwood’s core and its historical importance,” said Mayor Mark Myers reportedly told the news outlet. “The facade grant program will drastically improve the look and feel of several buildings in the heart of Greenwood.”

The project is being funded in part by a grand from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural affairs and is expected to be completed by late fall or early winter, the newspaper reported.
