Center Grove Senior Named Girl’s Golf Player of the Year

A Center Grove High School student-athlete has been named girls golf player of the year by a local newspaper.

According to the Daily Journal, Shelby Schier, who is a senior at the Greenwood-based school, is the newspaper’s player of the year.

This year, Schier helped lead Center Grove to county and sectional championships, and her nine-hole average of 40 was the county’s best. In addition, Schier posted rounds of 75 at three of Center Grove’s biggest events: the Johnson County championship, the State Preview tournament and at the Center Grove Sectional, where she tied for first place individually before falling in a playoff, the newspaper said.

Schier has already committed to play golf at Valparaiso University next year.
