Apartment List Ranks Greenwood in Top 5 Indiana Cities for Families
Greenwood is one of the top cities in Indiana for families, according to a recent list released by Apartment List.
The company, which is a growing online rental marketplace, ranked Greenwood at No. 3 on its “Top 5 Indiana Cities for Families.” The list comes after Apartment List ranked the top 100 countries nationwide. Greenwood ranked No. 106 on that list.
The rankings for both lists were based on safety, housing cost (based on the rental rate of a two-bedroom apartment), school quality and child friendliness. The apartment company used FBI crime statistics as well as Department of Education data to complete its list.
Here’s what Apartment List had to say about Greenwood:
“There’s a big gap between Indiana’s second and third best cities for families, with Greenwood ranking No. 106 on our national list. It’s also an Indianapolis suburb, scoring just a bit behind Carmel for kid friendliness and affordability. A 2 bedroom here averages just $750 a month, while the median income is $55,600. Greenwood falls a bit behind due to lower graduation rates and a substantially higher crime rate than its neighbors.”
Fishers, IN took first place in Indiana and the nationwide lists. Carmel took No. 2 in Indiana, and Fort Wayne and Kokomo round out the Top 5 list at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
