Aldi to Open Greenwood Store Friday
Aldi will officially open its Greenwood grocery store to the public on Friday, Oct. 10.
According to the IndyStar, the new store is part of Aldi’s expansion into the Indianapolis area. Aldi is a German-based company and the Greenwood store will be located at 300 S. Indiana 135. Another Noblesville store is in the process of being renovated and another location is set to open in Indianapolis, too.
“It just speaks to the demand,” Laura Bauer, the vice president of the Aldi Greenwood division, told the IndyStar. “We’re seeing more customers walk into our doors every day.”
There sure is demand for grocery stores, the newspaper said. A grocery store boom seems to be happening in the area, with the first bang happening in June when organic grocer Fresh Thyme opened its first Indiana store just north of Greenwood. Kroger and a new Walmart superstore are also in the works, IndyStar reported.
Ribbon cuttings for all three Indianapolis metro locations are planned for 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10. Giveaways and door prizes will be handed out to the first 100 shoppers.
