Since the opening of Argyll Whisky Beer last June, Denver foodies have been frequenting this new eatery for the gourmet menu and excellent cocktails. Culinary director, John Broening and spirit concoctor, Ryan Conklin, are bringing fun pairing combinations together.
The Denver Post recommends the Used Boat Salesman, with Plantation 3 Stars white rum, cucumber, lemon and a splash of soda water. The Gastropub features 20 beers on tap, a top-notch wine list and, of course, the creative cocktail menu.
Traditional British cuisine such as bangers and mash, Scotch eggs, and potted shrimp stand along side deconstructed twists by the chef. Broening’s wife and pastry chef Yasmin Lozada-Hissom makes the buttery, crisp crusts for their famous shepherd’s pie.
The Argyll Whisky Beer Gastropub is located at 1035 E. 17th Avenue in a creative, modern space that boasts a retro design. Open Monday through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to midnight; Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
