Scottsdale Ranked No. 1 “Best City to Raise Children”
According to a recent survey by MyLife.com, Scottsdale is ranked as the number one best city to raise children. Based on ranking the country’s 100 most populous cities, they determined their decision on certain criteria: average family income, cost of living, crime rate, quality of public schools, and the number of public parks.
Coming from a combination of data collecting websites such as SchoolDigger.com, NeighborhoodScout.com and AreaVibes.com, they have came up with a list of best and worst cities in the country. Scottsdale landed the No. 1 spot by scoring very high in the “average family income”, “quality of public schools”, as well as public parks categories.
“The accolade seems right on the mark,” said Kelly Corsette in the AZCentral.com article, spokesman for the city of Scottsdale. “We’re a safe city, with great parks and outdoor spaces, served by top-notch schools.”
Scottsdale also puts an emphasis on the Boys and Girls Clubs collaborating with the police department to teaching people on what they do on a daily basis, and offering a mentoring program for young adults. Tamara Delmar is the area director for the Boys and Girls of Greater Scottsdale. “The police department does an incredible job of outreaching to the community,” she said in the article.”They have provided presentations giving us a better understanding of what they do.”
In addition, the public school system is helping students become more college and career ready and plans to create more partnerships with youth development programs, such as the Boys and Girls Club. “Those partnerships are hard for any community to provide, but I think it would really take Scottsdale even further up the echelon in regard to quality youth services,” Delmar said in the article.
Neighboring Valley city Chandler also made the top list coming in at No. 4. Scottsdale residents are raising their children in the right community, and can count on it for future generations. View all the top cities and categories on their website at www.MyLife.com.
