OdySea in the Desert: A Visual and Sensory Experience for All
Driving through Scottsdale one might notice a very large building being constructed just east of Loop 101. The 523,000-square-foot OdySea in the Desert will have a Butterfly Wonderland, an Odysea Aquarium, an IMAX® Experience, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not!®, an Arizona Experience, and MagiQuest™
Along with the attractions there are going to be new retail stores and restaurants to pair with the experiences. According to the Odysea in the Desert website, it will encompass multiple linked and integrated visual and sensory experiences.
The massive aquarium complex will be under construction by August on the Salt River Reservation, with completion expected by Christmas 2015, according to AZCentral.com. Odysea Aquarium will be adjacent to Butterfly Wonderland and OdySea Mirror Maze/Laser Maze, at the northeastern corner of Via de Ventura and Loop 101.
The 35-acre land in Scottsdale will be the new place to go for all the entertainment needs. OdySea Aquarium will be a two-level facility that will span more than 200,00 square feet, said Amram Knishinsky, OdySea CEO in the recent article. Visitors will move to each level via acrylic tunnels while viewing sea life from around the world. It will employ more than 250 people and can accommodate up to 15,000 visitors daily.
Hours that the facility will be open are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week. Lifetime memberships can be purchased for individuals and families, as well as VIP entry lines and behind-the-scenes tours. Now, all residents of Scottsdale have to do is wait until this adventurous space opens up to the public.
